Shaw Wali Khan Vocational Training Center

The Shaw Wali Khan Vocational Training Center - baptized with the name of Mina Wali's father - targets primarily the widows and orphans of Afghanistan. It was created to provide training in handicrafts, jewelery, tapestry and mechanics in order to promote professional skills that can turn into means of subsistence for trainees.

At the Center, children are encouraged to reveal their talents. In addition, job opportunities are created for women. The activities promote the use of afghan natural resources, such as precious stones.

At the same time, the Center operates as a place of leisure, protecting orphans and preventing them from falling into the hands of terrorist organizations that could use them as suicide bombers.

The development of this Vocational Training Center is one of the priorities of HOM. Besides the training, HOM expects that the profits of the sale of crafts - in Afghanistan and abroad, including Portugal - reverts to HOM. This self-financing would result in a lower economic dependence of HOM on foreign aid.
